  1. Welcome to the 30 day demo copy of DiskNet by Reflex, Inc.!
  2.  
  3. This demo is designed to be installed on your PC from a floppy drive.  (This
  4. Disknet demo is not a complete working copy.  Certain security features of
  5. Disknet have been disabled.)  You should extract this file directly to a
  6. diskette and follow these instructions to install DiskNet on your PC:
  7.  
  8. 1)      After you have created and labeled your DiskNet Demo diskette and
  9.         copied the DiskNet Demo files onto the diskette, you must boot your PC
  10.         from a CLEAN, WRITE PROTECTED DOS DISKETTE!
  11.  
  12. 2)      Once the PC has been booted from a CLEAN, WRITE PROTECTED DOS DISKETTE,
  13.         insert the DiskNet Demo Diskette.
  14.  
  15. 3)    Scan the hard drive using the ThunderByte scanner by typing:
  16.  
  17.     TBSCAN C:
  18.  
  19. 4)      If the PC is found to be virus free, make a DISKNET directory on the C:
  20.         drive and copy all the files from the DiskNet Demo diskette to the
  21.         DISKNET directory on the C: drive.
  22.  
  23. 5)    Install the DiskNet software from the diskette using the INSTALL
  24.         command.  Use the Automatic Installation option.
  25.  
  26. 6)    Reboot the PC to load the DiskNet program
  27.  
  28. 7)    When you try and access a diskette that has not been authorized by
  29.     DiskNet, you will get the following message:
  30.  
  31.     "UNAUTHORIZED DISK, Please have this disk checked"
  32.  
  33.     When this occurs, respond to the DOS/Windows error appropriately, and
  34.     authorize the disk using the DiskNet CHECK program (i.e. CHECKTB for
  35.     ThunderByte).  This will scan the diskette for viruses and authorize the
  36.     diskette for use within the DiskNet shield if the diskette is free of
  37.     viruses.

  39.     Alternatively, if the diskette contains no executable code, the CHECKDAT
  40.     program may be used to authorize the diskette for use.    CHECKDAT checks
  41.     the diskette to make sure it has no executable code on it, overwrites
  42.     the boot sector to eliminate boot sector infecting viruses, and writes
  43.     the DiskNet signature.

  45. 8)      You can configure the Windows DiskNet Icon to use either the CHECKDAT or
  46.         CHECKTB (ThunderByte scanner) program to automatically check the
  47.         diskette in question.  To do this, click once on the DiskNet Icon from
  48.         within Windows and choose Configure.  Click on the Execute box and use
  49.         either the CHECKDAT program to check data only diskettes, or change
  50.         CHECKDAT.EXE to CHECKTB.EXE to use the ThunderByte scanner to check the
  51.         diskette for viruses.
